KMITL Establishes Strategic Partnership with LIG Defense and Kumwell to Enhance Knowledge Development and Advance National Security Technologies.

On April 9, 2026, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), through its School of Engineering, led by Associate Professor Dr. Somyot Kiatwanichwilai, Dean of the School of Engineering, in collaboration with LIG Defense & Aerospace, represented by Ph.D. Hyeon Soo Lee from the Republic of Korea, and Kumwell Corporation Public Company Limited, represented by Mr. Boonsak Kiatjaroonlert, held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to promote collaboration in the transfer of knowledge, technology, and innovation in the defense industry.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Thailand in advancing its high-technology capabilities. It aims to support and further develop the High Capability Frigate Program through the integration of expertise from international industry partners into academia and the development of Thai professionals.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Prakit Tangtisanont, former President of KMITL and President of the KMITL Retirees Association; Mr. Kritsana Thaidamrong, President of the KMITL Alumni Association and Member of the University Council; along with faculty members, alumni, and distinguished experts who gathered to support the School of Engineering.

This partnership reflects the role of the KMITL School of Engineering as a national hub for advancing engineering knowledge and high-technology development. It also serves as a key driving force in positioning Thailand toward sustainable growth in the defense and aerospace industries on a global scale.
