Mr. Boonsak Leads ASEAN toward Regional Installation Standards through CSV Collaboration

Mr. Boonsak Kiatjaroonlert, in his capacity as President of the ASEAN Federation of Electrical Engineering Contractors (AFEEC), is the key driver of the Creating Shared Value (CSV) Safety to Society concept and has actively driven its implementation at the regional level. As part of this initiative, he proposed the ASEAN Engineering Installation Handbook to the cooperation mechanism of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The proposal aims to elevate engineering installation standards across the ASEAN region to ensure safety, efficiency, and harmonization.

The proposal is being advanced through the Public-Private Sector Engagement (PPE) mechanism under the coordination of the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), which has been designated as the lead agency for driving regional engineering standardization. Mr. Beni Suryadi, Senior Manager for the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) and Strategic Partnership at ACE, participated in the meeting to represent the center.

The development of the ASEAN Engineering Installation Handbook is strongly supported by key regional partners, including the ASEAN Federation of Electrical Engineering Contractors (AFEEC), the Thai Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Association (TEMCA), as well as professional associations from ASEAN member states such as the Indonesian Electrical Contractors Association (Asosiasi Kontraktor Listrik dan Mekanikal Indonesia: AKLI), the Society of Philippine Electrotechnical Constructors and Suppliers (SPECS), The Electrical and Electronics Association of Malaysia (TEEAM), and the Singapore Electrical Contractors and Licensed Electrical Workers Association (SECA). These partners have expressed their readiness to collaborate in drafting and implementing the handbook across the region.

During the meeting, Mr. Boonsak Kiatjaroonlert, President of AFEEC, stated:
Through this partnership, we believe the handbook can become not just a technical tool, but a symbol of ASEAN collaboration and leadership in electrical system engineering excellence ultimately enhancing the safety and well-being of our people.

Following the meeting, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), through the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), expressed its support for the concept and welcomed the opportunity to jointly advance the proposal at the ASEAN level. The aim is to ensure that the handbook reflects best practices in engineering installation, aligns with ASEANs vision of regional integration and standardization, and contributes to the development of sustainable infrastructure across the region.
